Naka Yai Island is located just 4 kilometers off the coast of Northeast Phuket at Ao Por Pier, west of the Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Sanctuary. Just 1 km. to the south is its sister island, Naka Noi, which is just a fraction of the size in terms of landmass. Naka Yai is about 2.6 km. long and only about 1 km. at its widest point.
If you are starting from Patong Beach in Phuket, you will take the highway over the mountain and into Phuket Town. From there, you will drive on Highway 4027 and on to the Ao Por Pier on the coast. Longtail boats can be taken from this pier to the Naka Yai Island, from November through April, and other times when the water isn’t rough. Since you will be traveling to Naka Yai Island, you can also easily stop at the Naka Noi Island during the same trip. Be sure to arrange this with the longtail boat captain.
