Naka is a village on the western edge of Phuket Town, just below Central Festival Phuket shopping complex. The area has some nice homes and is primarily a residential area with some stores to be found on the main road.
The main activity going on here is the weekend night market, the Chao Fa Night Market (also called Naka Market), which runs Friday through Sunday. This is a massive market selling everything from kids toys to fruits, vegetables and ready-made snack food of all kind. There are second-hand clothes displays and games for kids to play. This is quite a popular place, with Google showing over 500 reviews for the market, averaging well over 4 out of 5 stars. The market is located on Wirat Hong Yok Street running east-to-west, close to the intersection with Chao Fah Tawan Tok Street. You can’t really miss it as the market is about 150 meters (164 feet) wide by 200 meters (219 yards) long, and is just filled with every kind of shops and street food stalls you could imagine.
The market isn’t the only attraction in the Naka area as there is a large Theravada Buddhist temple right across the street, the Wat Nakaram, which is open during daylight hours for you want to pop in and walk around.
