Thalang

Thalang, Phuket
Thalang is a town in the north of Phuket that was previously (before Phuket Town) the capital of Phuket Island. In its glory days, it was one of the most influential business and administrative towns in the south of Thailand. It is also the name of the district (one of three) in the north of the island. Phuket International Airport (HKT) sits in the northern part of the Thalang district. Needless to say that you'll have to drive through the area, wherever you are heading on the island.

If you are looking to catch a glimpse of the past and see how Phuket was before the expansion of its tourism industry, you will enjoy several parts of Thalang. There, you'll find small side roads that take you to local villages, rubber plantations, beaches, and a few national parks. And as a bonus, you'll probably see some old wooden houses as well!

Besides, there is always something to do in Thalang district. Some people want to relax and soak the sun at one of its numerous beautiful beaches. Others prefer the fun water sports activities or even spend the day in one of the water parks. And there are the ones who come for the entertaining nightlife experiences. Whatever you are looking for, you'll find it!
